Fayetteville, GA (September 14, 2019) – This past week, deputies discovered that one person was killed in a fatal accident involving a gyrocopter in Fayetteville.
Personnel have explained that this type of vehicle is a type of roto-craft that lands smoothly even when an engine is stopped in mid-air. Police have confirmed that, statistically, there are fewer accidents involving these vehicles than in passenger vehicles.
When Fayette deputies arrived at the scene of a residence, they found a 72-year-old had been killed in one of these accidents but they are not sure how it happened at this time. He was tragically pronounced dead at the scene.
The FAA and police are working together on their investigation.
