East Point, GA (September 15, 2019) – A construction worker who was starting work on a roadway was killed this morning in a pedestrian accident on I-85.
At the time, the worker was working on repairing a major interstate. The accident happened this morning around 4:30 a.m. The Department of Transportation responded to the accident.
Crews had been working diligently to repair the road when a driver suddenly ran off the side of the road. Their vehicle first struck a work truck and then ran into the worker.
The worker was taken to the hospital by ambulance but tragically passed away while there.
The driver who struck the pedestrian has since been charged with reckless driving, homicide by vehicle, and more. The investigation into the accident is ongoing at this time.
