Acworth, GA (August 26, 2019) – Today, August 26, police responded to the scene of a fatal accident that happened when a truck flew over the side of the bridge on I-75.
The accident took place in the southbound lanes and, according to police, caused the fatality of the driver involved.
According to police, the accident closed down multiple lanes of the highway. The driver was allegedly the only person in the vehicle. The vehicle was identified as a 2007 Chevy pickup truck, which suddenly went through a concrete barrier on the side of the highway and plunged onto the concrete median.
The individual’s identity has not yet been released, as police are still notifying the family. Police have confirmed that the vehicle plunged head-first and there were severe damages to the truck. They have warned drivers that barriers on the side of the bridge are not meant to handle a severe head-on collision.
The investigation into the accident is ongoing at this time.
