Villa Rica, GA (September 22, 2019) – This morning around 3 a.m., police confirmed that a fatal truck accident happened on I-20 involving a tractor-trailer and a firetruck.
The crash took place in the westbound lanes of I-20 when a tractor-trailer suddenly crashed into the back of a Douglas County firetruck with force. The truck allegedly struck the fire department’s ladder truck, causing fatal injuries to the driver of the tractor-trailer. Luckily, none of the firefighters were injured.
At the time, police in the area had been at the scene of a rollover accident when they were called to the scene of the fatal crash. They found through initial investigations that the ladder truck had been parked in the slow lane on the interstate when the crash occurred.
The driver of the tractor-trailer had to be extricated from the mangled vehicle. Unfortunately, he was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.
The scene was not cleared until 9:30 a.m. At this time, the investigation into the accident is ongoing.
