Sylvester, GA (September 9, 2019) – This morning around 8:25 a.m., police responded to the scene of a pedestrian accident involving a mother and child in Sylvester.
The accident, according to the Georgia State Patrol, allegedly took place when the two were struck by a Department of Public Safety vehicle. The vehicle had been traveling east toward Tifton.
The woman and her child had been leaving the E-Z Corner gas station at the time, crossing the highway when they were suddenly struck.
The child was left with critical injuries and immediately airlifted to a hospital in Florida. The woman was taken by ambulance to another hospital.
The investigation into the accident continues at this time.
