Lyerly, GA (September 9, 2019) – Previous reports into a fatal crash on Highway 114 yesterday claimed that one person lost their life, but this has now been upgraded to two.
The crash took place last evening, September 8 around 5:25 p.m. The Georgia State Patrol responded to the scene of the crash, where they found that a 47-year-old man was driving his Honda Civic traveling south. However, he failed to maintain his lane, causing the vehicle to travel off the roadway.
The vehicle started to rotate when the driver jerked the wheel, which caused it to travel across both lanes of traffic and go off the east shoulder. It then struck a tree and a fence. The driver and two others had to be extricated from the vehicle.
Police claim that a front-seat passenger, identified as a 13-year-old girl, was pronounced dead at the scene. One other party was taken, unresponsive, to the hospital where they were pronounced dead.
Another party, identified as a child, was airlifted to the hospital with serious injuries. At this time, police continue their investigation into the accident.
