Lawrenceville, GA (September 18, 2019) – Around 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, police responded to a hit-and-run accident on the University Parkway in Lawrenceville.
Authorities have since identified the party who caused the accident as a 22-year-old man from Winder, who surrendered to police on Monday. He allegedly ran another party off the road, causing serious results. He is now facing felony charges.
The victim was driving early Sunday morning when a vehicle allegedly approached him from behind. The suspect, who was driving a Ford Escape, struck the victim’s Jeep and caused his vehicle to run off the side of the road, where it struck a tree.
The vehicle flipped over multiple times off the side of the road. When the victim woke up after being knocked unconscious, he received several broken bones. Now, the victim has been taken to the ICU at the Athens Regional Medical Center and will need several surgeries.
The suspect was charged with felony hit-and-run, felony serious injury by vehicle, and other related charges.
The investigation into the accident continues at this time.
