Dawsonville, GA (September 11, 2019) – The Georgia State Patrol confirmed that a DUI accident led to injuries and an arrest on Highway 53 in Dawsonville.
According to police, the accident took place on Tuesday, September 10. A truck had been carrying 6,000 pounds of explosive chemicals and overturned in the accident.
The accident allegedly involved four vehicles and left two men with minor injuries. A 64-year-old woman was arrested for her role in the accident.
At the time, the woman had been traveling east on the highway when she suddenly crossed over the center line and drove into the westbound lane. She sideswiped the truck that overturned and caused a chain-reaction accident.
The accident took place around 5 a.m. and took several hours for crews to clear the scene. At this time, the investigation into the circumstances of the accident is ongoing.
