Dalton, GA (September 12, 2019) – On Wednesday morning, September 12, police responded to the scene of a fatal motorcycle accident at a Dalton intersection.
The Dalton Police Department arrived at the scene of the accident around 9:20 a.m. at the intersection of Walnut Avenue and V.D. Parrott Parkway.
According to an initial investigation, the crash took place when a 73-year-old man was traveling north on V.D. Parrott in a GMC pickup truck when the driver attempted to turn west at the intersection. At that time, a Kia passenger vehicle driven by a 34-year-old man had been traveling eastbound on Walnut and they both entered into the intersection at the same time. They collided forcefully.
From there, the Kia was sent traveling into a motorcycle in the westbound lanes of Walnut. The motorcycle rider, who has not yet been identified, was killed on impact and pronounced deceased by the county coroner.
The intersection was closed down for three hours after the accident. At this time, the investigation into the collision continues.
