Lake Burton, GA (August 28, 2019) – Police responded to the scene of a boating accident that took place on Lake Burton and injured a woman who has since been identified. Police have also released more information about the circumstances of the accident.
It has been confirmed that a 29-year-old woman was swimming near her family’s boathouse on Lake Burton at the time of the accident. A passing boat came through the area and struck her. The boat then fled the scene.
The accident took place between 4 and 6 p.m. on Thursday behind a home on Kubler Lane. The woman was struck by the boat and received injuries to her arm and head. A deck boat traveling in the area heard her traveling for help and waited with her until the ambulance arrived.
The Georgia Department of Natural Resources is still trying to find the boat responsible for striking her.
The investigation into the accident continues at this time.
